The club has three layouts, and each layout has a sub-group of members who work on that layout (a few work on two!).
All are exhibition layouts, and each group tries to attend 2 or 3 external exhibitions a year, as well as attending our own exhibition once every 3 years.
The N gauge group works on Basingstoke, a large layout now about 8 years into a planned 5 year development, but with at least 3 years more work to do! At present work is concentrating on automating the fiddle yards and providing protection againt crashes to make operating easier, plus adding more controls to allow more manouvers such as shunting and changing engines. Several members of this group construct their own stock and locos from kits or sometimes scratchbuilding. About half the members are also members of the 2mm (finescale) society.
The OO group is building a new layout, Greenfields, an oval layout with a station and junction at the front. The track and electrics are now working, and activity has switched to scenic work.
The O gauge enthusiasts are now progressing well with their new Weydon Road layout which is largely complete though still scenery to finish. This is an end to end layout with lots of kit built stock.
We also have a dual gauge 3 1/2" and 5 1/4" portable track for running live steam locos on.
Several club members have their own exhibition layouts, some of which are pictured.
