The club has four layouts, in N, OO, P4 and O gauges. Although we have natural gauge groupings, some members are happy to play trains on more than one size! Some members even go beyond multiple regional alliances, and model several different countries. In additon to club layouts, we also have a number of members actively producing private ventures, including a tram layout.
All our club layouts are designed for exhibition use, and each group tries to attend 2 or 3 external events a year, as well as attending our own exhibition once every 3 years. Please Contact us if you want to explore having one of our layouts at your show.
The N gauge group works on Basingstoke, a large layout now more than 10 years into a planned 5 year development, but with at least 3 years more work to do! At present work is concentrating on increased operational flexibility, with some members putting a significant amount of effort into producing kit-built, modified, detailed and scratch-built stock to match the chosen period and region of BR (S) in the sixties (ish!). About half the members are also members of the 2mm Scale Association.
The OO group is building a new layout, Greenfield, which features an oval continuous run, with a station and junction at the front. The track and electrics are now working, and scenic work is now well advanced. As well as appearing at our show while "under construction", Greenfields is now starting to attend external events too.
Our most recent group is building a P4 layout Brixcombe, which is now well on the way to completion and exhibitable.largely complete.
The O gauge enthusiasts are now progressing well with their Weydon Road layout which is largely complete though still has scenery to finish. This is an end to end layout with lots of kit built stock.
Several club members have their own exhibition layouts, some of which are pictured in the "Members" section on the left.
